Riley Terminal Swages

All Riley Terminal Swages are now made to internationally recognised US Military Specifications, or "MILSPEC". These specifications are widely used in military applications where termination of wire ropes is critical, such as for aircraft manufacture. The table below shows some important dimensions for MILSPEC. Riggers should note that the hole diameters are generally larger than those previously offered by us.

As the US Military Specifications are written in Imperial units, the data presented below for metric wire sizes are an adaption of the equivilant Imperial MILSPEC dimensions.

Our MILSPEC products are visibly different from terminals produced to previous specifications. We now brand our company name and the nominal wire size on the shank of the terminal. This helps to prevent costly losses due to incorrect selection of terminal sizes.

Part numbers from RM1025 to RM1550 are coded with the wire size. The last two numerical digits in the part number are the nominal wire size, expressed in tenths of a millimetre.

Eg. RM1448 is a swage eye to suit wire 48 tenths or 4.8mm in diameter - ie. 3/16". If there is any doubt about this coding, simply refer to the tables for the part in this catalogue.
